June 16, 2010

Members present: Maxine Divine, Mary Benson, Harlan Hawkins, John Francisco, and Carol Scidmore. Absent: Martha Carter and Chris Ferguson. Also present: Barb Coward and Walter Magdziarz.

Meeting called to order by Harlan Hawkins at 7:08 p.m.

Walter Magdiarz presented Old Cortland Elementary School Re-Use Plan. Discussion was held.

April 21, 2010 minutes read. Mary Benson made a motion to approve April 21, 2010 minutes. John Francisco seconded the motion. Voice vote and all in favor. Minutes stand as approved.

May 19, 2010 minutes read. Mary Benson made a motion to approve May 19, 2010 minutes. John Francisco seconded the motion. Voice vote and all in favor. Minutes stand as approved.

May 2010 treasurer's report reviewed. Carol Scidmore made a motion to approve the expenditures of $21,573.66 for May. Mary Benson seconded the motion. Roll call vote: Mary Benson-aye, Carol Scidmore-aye, Maxine Divine-aye, John Francisco-aye, and Harlan Hawkins-aye. Motion carried.

The librarian's report for May was presented. New checkout desk should arrive on Thursday.

OLD BUSINESS:

Library Planning/Dr. Fred Schlipf, etc. - Nothing.

Hearing of Citizens - None.

Policies/Per Capita requirements - Library may purchase a 'green' vacuum cleaner.

Friends of Cortland Library - Not meeting.

Book Club - The club is meeting at the library. May book was 'The Help'. The book for June is 'Curious Incident: The Dog and the Light'.

Sign - Nothing.

Fiber Optic Grant/DATA - No new update.

Budget Issues - Nothing.

FOI Act - Still working on it. Due June 30, 2010.

Summer Reading -
169 kids signed up beginning last week.
Tuesday programs.
July 24, 2010 picnic - Tentative time, 12:00 noon until 8 or 9 p.m. Activities are being planned.

Website & Facebook Fan Page - Heather continues to post comments. Good PR for the library. Helps with attendance at events.

NEW BUSINESS:

FY 2010-2011 - New fiscal year so we received more money.

Remodel/paint, carpet & desk area - Remodeling looks great.

Miss Laura & new offerings - Craft afternoon every week for 4th - 7th grade.

Mary Benson made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Carol Scidmore seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
