FINGERPLAYS

Have you ever been fishing on a bright and sunny day? (pretend to cast fishing rod)

When all the little fishies swimmin' up and down the bay? (swim with hands)

With your hands in your pockets, (put hands in front of hips like in pockets)

And your pockets in your pants, (slap thighs)

And all the little fishies do the Hootchy Kootchy dance! (dance and wiggle)

The Waves On The Sea....(to the wheels on the bus tune)

The waves on the sea go up and down

up and down

up and down

the waves on the sea go up and down

all day long

The shark in the sea goes snap snap snap

snap snap snap

snap snap snap

The shark in the sea goes snap snap snap

all day long

The fish in the sea go swish swish swish

swish swish swish

swish swish swish

The fish in the sea go swish swish swish

all day long

The boats in the sea go toot toot toot

toot toot toot

toot toot toot

all day long

The boats in the sea go toot toot toot

all day long

One, two, three, four, five (Hold up fingers while counting)
Once I caught a fish alive.
Six, seven, eight, nine, ten (hold up additional fingers)
Then I let it go again.
Why did I let it go? (shrug shoulders)
Because it bit my finger so. (pout)
Which finger did it bite? (shrug shoulders)
The little finger on the right.
(hold up pinky on the right hand)

Row, row, row your boat

Gently down the stream

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily

Life is but a dream

Rock, rock, rock your boat

Gently down the stream

If you see a great big shark

Down forget to scream

Also, each week we present a new letter of the alphabet and do a simple craft.

Storytime at the Cortland Library is drop-in, and most appropriate for pre-school children, ages three to five.

Younger children are welcome, so that all may enjoy the program, parents are to stay in the storytime area with children younger than three.
