Board of Trustees Meeting

President Hawkins called the meeting to order at 7:000. Shown present were Victoria Haier, Ryan Hilligoss, John Francisco, Harlan Hawkins, Martha Carter, and Mary Benson. Absent was Marie Kornischuk. Also present was Barb Coward.

 

Minutes of April 14, 2015 were read and discussed. Ms.Benson moved to accept the minutes as written, seconded by Ms.Carter. Unanimous voice vote.

The Expense Report and Treasurerís Report for the month ending March 31, 2015 was submitted for review and approval. Ms.Haier moved and Ms. Benson seconded a motion to accept the expense report and approve the treasurerís report as presented.

Yea: Trustees Benson, Hilligoss, Hawkins, Francisco, Carter and Haier

Nays: none

Absent: Ms.Kornischuk

The Expense Report and Treasurerís Report for the month ending April 30, 2015 was submitted for review and approval. Mr.Hilligoss moved and Ms. Benson seconded a motion to accept the expense report and approve the treasurerís report as presented.

Nays: none

Absent: Ms.Kornischuk

The Librarianís report for April 2015 read and discussed. Ms.Haier moved and Mr.Francisco seconded to accept the reports as presented. Unanimous voice vote. Discussed Summer Fest and whether the library would participate. Topic will be discussed and voted on at the June board meeting.

 

 

 

 

Old Business

 

Hearing of citizens- none

 

 

Board Members Sworn In: Cortland mayor Russell Stokes swore in board members Ryan Hilligoss and Martha Carter.

 

Board Members for 2015-2016: No changes proposed so all members will retain their current roles.

 

Librarians Working Together and Staff Training: Training sessions will be held in August, September and October.

 

Grants: Received Dollar General grant for summer reading program of $1500. Monsanto grant of $8,000 was not awarded.

 

Book Sale: Ms.Kornischuk raised roughly $200 from the library book sale during Cortland town garage sale weekend.

 

Summer Reading Program: Will run from June 8-Aug 1 and is entitled Read To The Rhythm.

 

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten: Prizes given out for every 100 books read. Will start end of May and be a continuous program.

 

Policies and Procedures: Proposal copies given to the board to be reviewed and discussed at June meeting.

 

 

 

New Business

 

Amazing Race Contest: Discussed the need for more volunteers for the contest to be held in June.

 

 

Budget Revision for Fy 2015 ending: Tabled until next meeting.

 

 

FY 2016 Budget: Reviewed and discussed budget proposal for 2016. Mr.Hilligoss moved and Ms. Benson seconded a motion to accept the expense report and approve the budget proposal as presented.

Lower Revenue Discussion: The Zinio and Mango language programs have been discontinued due to low usage and budget constraints.

 

Goals For Future Improvements: Ongoing discussions and plans, will be discussed on a continuous basis.

 

Library Board Contact and Email: In process right now with tech support, will need to get log in and password info for board to access and review any communications.

 

 

 

Adjournment

 

Ms.Haier moved and Ms.Benson seconded a motion for adjournment, Unanimous voice vote carried the motion. The meeting adjourned at 8:31pm.
