Library Cards and Fees
To get a library card, you must live in Cortland and show a Drivers' License or other official I.D. as proof. Pieces of mail such as utility bills are also accepted. A Cortland Library card is good at all libraries in the Prairie Area Library System.
If you do not live in Cortland and wish to get a non-resident library card, it is possible to purchase one for 15% of one months rent or .0034% of the EAV on your tax bill. Bring a rent receipt or most recent real estate tax bill to purchase a one year card.
Cortland Library has 2000 DVD's, limit 5 per card. The DVD’s have a one week checkout and a $.20 per fine if late.
There are also unabridged audio books on CD as well as best selling books, magazines, music CD's and VHS movies to borrow. All of these materials have a two-week checkout and a $.10 per day fine if late.
